Only a few more days until the start of Chapter 2! Until then, here’s the matching pin-up of Alex. The greenery in this one is Virginia Creeper. While not named after the state, Virginia is one of the states where Virginia Creeper grows natively, and Alex’s home state as well! Virginia Creeper can cause allergic reactions in some people, so let’s hope Alex is not one of them 😉
Although Starlight City is a fictional place, it’s located in Northern Virginia in the story. I had a few reasons for this decision – I frequently see stories take place in major US cities like New York, Chicago, and LA. I’m an Atlanta native and wish I could see Southern cities represented more often. I’ve traveled all over the Southeast, but I’ve always really enjoyed visiting Washington, DC and the NoVA region. Although DC isn’t really part of the South or the North, the surrounding area in Virginia is a lot of fun and very beautiful too. I wanted to capture the idea of a cosmopolitan city that’s located in the South, with aspects of what I appreciate about Atlanta and NoVA.
