Mat: I thought Dad would blow up like he used to. But when Joe came and told him about you, he didn’t seem surprised.
He told Joe to settle down.
Joe tried to argue, saying “Didn’t you hear me?”
Dad got kinda mad then.
He told him to go because he was upsetting Mom.
Kaz: Huh.
Mat: Yeah. Joe looked like he got slapped in the face.
I guess he’s not used to not getting what he wants.
He’s always been their favorite kid.
But lately he’s really been pushing their limits.
Anyway, he left after that.
Kaz: Wow.
Mat: Yeah, it was a really weird night.
Kaz: Did Joe come back for Christmas?
Mat: Ha, thankfully no.
He texted to say he’d be celebrating with his girlfriend.
But Dad said he showed up at work like usual the next day.
Other than that…
Dad hasn’t really talked about it.
