Arcade Alex

Family is complicated. Their thoughts here are drawn from some of my own, particularly the final two panels. Kaz’s family isn’t exactly like mine, though some of the feelings are the same. These last couple chapters have been cathartic in a lot of ways to draw, but just like real life, there aren’t always clear cut answers or reasons why people behave the way they do.

This is going to be the last of the heavy plot for a while. Mat will have some more to say in a few chapters, though mainly he’ll be sharing things about himself with Kaz. I hope this has given some background into Kaz and his character. We’ll have chapters coming up about Alex’s background too. Before that though, we’ll have some fun and hot chapters again!

Anyway… speaking of family, I’ll be out of town over Labor Day weekend visiting mine, so the next page will be September 9. Wish me luck 🙃

Mat: It’s weird…
Dad used to be so angry when we were growing up.
The littlest things would set him off sometimes.
But now…
It feels like he doesn’t care enough about us to get angry.
He’s just busy with work all the time and checked out at home.
I don’t want to repeat those years, but at least when he was angry, I guess it meant he felt something.
I’m sorry, I know that doesn’t make sense.
Kaz: No… No, it does.
Mat: I don’t know why he started to change.
It kind of feels like, for both Mom and Dad, that we made more sense as little kids?
We grew up, and they lost interest.
Kaz: I know what you mean.
Like they don’t want to get to know us now.
For who we really are. Not just who they think we should be.
